Professional Services Agreement with James Vincent, Ph.D and Sedgwick County Developmental Disability Organization.

This agreement is a renewal with Dr. James Vincent, a licensed psychologist with experience working with the developmentally disabled. Dr. Vincent is a resource for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs, who exhibit challenging behaviors, who has been working with Sedgwick County Developmental Disability Organization since May of 2008. Through this agreement, Dr. Vincent also employs one graduate student in psychology to assist in developing behavior support plans and data collection. Our goal is to expand community capacity of mental health professionals to work with the developmentally disabled through the use of the graduate students.

Another component of the agreement is system trainings. Dr. Vincent facilitates monthly brownbag lunch trainings on challenging behavior related topics. The brownbags are rotated amongst service provider sites to improve access to the agencies.

Analysis:
In 2012, there have been 50 referrals for individual consultation. The SCDDO follows up with individuals working with Dr. Vincent through a satisfaction survey and responses have been positive with this service. Respondents have expressed an overall positive experience in behavioral consultation and the behavior plans that have been developed. Appointments have been based on the severity of the needs of the individual requesting the service.

One area SCDDO continues to try to improve is increasing the community capacity to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness and who display challenging behaviors. This agreement helps continue this process by providing for Dr. Vincent to hire one graduate student in Psychology assist him.
