Background: This agreement between COMCARE of Sedgwick County and the State of Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) outlines a cooperative arrangement to ensure patients of COMCARE admitted to a local inpatient hospital for mental health services receive the appropriate medical oversight. SRS has agreed to support COMCARE in their efforts to maintain the availability of medical providers for those clients needing inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
Alternatives: Without this support, COMCARE would be unable to maintain the current level of inpatient medical services for clients admitted to a local psychiatric hospital. This would negatively impact the quality and continuity of care for these high need patients.
Financial Considerations:

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of this agreement.
