Recommended Action: Approve the waiver.
The Division of Information and Operations (DIO), along with the Human Resources and Finance Divisions, has pursued the filling of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) vacancies with individuals with strong SAP skills (instead of hiring business experts and training them in the SAP field, as has been done in the past). To bring in experienced SAP professionals who can be immediately effective will often require hiring with a salary at "market pay" levels.
 
Alternatives: Do not offer a salary above minimum or vacation outside of existing policy and continue the national search for an ERP Director.
 
Financial Considerations: The requested starting salary to fill this vacancy is $114,000, along with an immediately available vacation leave of 10 days and annual vacation accrual of 15 days annually. Position number is 20003438 and is assigned to Enterprise Resource Planning within DIO (92015-110). No additional budget authority is necessary or requested to cover the cost of the waiver.
