ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF BERNIE CUMMINS FROM THE ROCKFORD TOWNSHIP TREASURER POSITION.

Mr. Cummins was elected in the November 2016 General Election as Treasurer of the Rockford Township. This term expires January 11, 2021. If a resignation is accepted before the expiration of said term, the Board of County Commissioners is responsible for appointing an individual to complete the unexpired term.

Legal Considerations: None of the Kansas Statutes indicate a legal standard that is required for a township officer to resign, but K.S.A. 25-16016 and K.S.A. 80-201 provide that the Board of County Commissioners is responsible for appointing the replacement for the remainder of the unexpired term. Acceptance of the resignation is by simple majority vote.
