Addition of a Peer Support Specialist Position for COMCARE's Homeless Program.

Recommended Action: Approve the implementation of the staffing table changes identified in the PATH grant application.
Background: On March 14, 2012, the BOCC approved COMCARE's application to the Kansas State Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services for the Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH). Included in this application was the addition of a part time certified peer support specialist. COMCARE has been notified that their grant application has been selected for funding by the State of Kansas, and is ready to modify the staffing table to accomodate this new position.
Alternatives: Should this addition not be approved, COMCARE's Homeless Program will not be able to add the part time peer support specialist as planned, and will have to amend their application to and award from the State. Additionally, the program will not have the added staff to support their outreach efforts in the community to engage clients in services.
Financial Considerations: Budget impact statement is attached.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed.
