Background:
The Health Department provides flu vaccines to uninsured adults and children annually. During the 2013-14 Flu Season more than 4,800 flu vaccines have been provided to Sedgwick County residents, with 1,330 of those being free to uninsured adults.
Analysis:
The Health Department will utilize the vaccine donation from Mid America Orthopedics to immunize 30 uninsured adults.
Alternatives:
To not accept the donation from Mid America Orthopedics, resulting in the Health Department purchasing additional flu vaccine or not providing flu vaccine to 30 uninsured adults.
Financial Considerations: No monetary funds will be awarded; only 30 doses of flu vaccine.
