APPROVAL OF AN AGREEMENT WITH KDOT AND THE CITY OF WICHITA FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A FLYOVER INTERCHANGE BETWEEN I-235 & 13TH ST. NORTH, DISTRICT 3.

The City of Wichita and KDOT have been working together to design and construct a new interchange between I-235 and 13th St. North. The interchange will provide a ramp from northbound I-235 to westbound 13th St. and a ramp from eastbound 13th St. to southbound I-235. Both ramps tie into a portion of 13th St. North that is maintained by Sedgwick County. The agreement will provide Sedgwick County’s consent to allow the construction in county right of way and outline future maintenance responsibilities for the new transportation facilities. There are no project costs to be borne by Sedgwick County. The project will include signalization of the intersection of North Shore and 13th St. North which is the south entrance to Sedgwick County Park.

Legal Considerations: The BoCC is authorized to make all contracts in relation to the property and concerns of the county under K.S.A. 19-101 fourth; and to perform such duties as required by law concerning roads under K.S.A. 19-212 Ninth. This contract is similar in terms and conditions to prior contracts approved by the BoCC for this purpose.
