The 2012 Adopted Budget document was prepared by Finance staff. In late 2011, the document was submitted to the Government Finance Officers Association for consideration, and after peer review and comparison of the County's budget document to established criteria, Sedgwick County received the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's recommended practices on budgeting and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
This is the 29th consecutive year Sedgwick County has earned the award, indicating a long history of consistent excellence in budget documentation by this government. The County's success in earning the Award for the 2012 Budget document is a direct result of the efforts of David Miller, Pete Giroux, Chris Duncan, Jill Tinsley, Lindsay Rousseau and Anne Bradley.
