AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE - WICHITA MEDICAL PRACTICE ASSOCIATION FOR MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED TO JUVENILES IN DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES.

Approval of this agreement allows the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita Medical Practice Association to continue to provide medical services to juveniles placed in Department of Corrections residential facilities. The previous agreement covered the two year period of July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2011. The maximum amount payable during the first year was $215,373, and $219,680 for the second year. The new agreement covers the one year period of July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012 and can be renewed for an additional one-year term upon mutual agreement of the parties. The maximum amount payable is $197,634 for the 12-month term ending on June 30, 2012. The scope of services in this contract has been reduced with a corresponding reduction in cost.
Alternatives: Alternative vendors have been considered with specific consideration given to CONMED, Inc., the current medical services provider for the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility. The results of the review supported ongoing services through the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita Medical Practice Association.
Financial Considerations: These funds are contained in the following 2011 fund centers: 33004-110, 33016-110 and 33017-110.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
