Recommended Action: Approve the contract and authorize the Chairman to sign.
 
Sedgwick County has been self-insured with Delta Dental of Kansas since 1992. Delta Dental of Kansas is a local affiliate of the Delta Dental national company with offices in Sedgwick County. Delta Dental of Kansas provides an excellent dental program and insurance service to Sedgwick County employees. The Delta Dental Provider Network of doctors is representative of 95% of all area dentists.
 
This is a renewal addendum to the 2009 year contract that ends December 31, 2012, which finalizes the agreement that was discussed and agreed upon during the adoption of the 2013 budget. The renewal addendum period is effective January 1, 2013 and ends December 31, 2016. This addendum states the terms and conditions to hold the current Delta Dental of Kansas administration rates and services of $3.11 per subscriber per month until December 31, 2016.
 
Alternatives: Not provide an employee dental plan.
 
Financial Considerations: As stated above, the current Delta Dental of Kansas administration rates and services of $3.11 per subscriber per month will remain in effect until December 31, 2016."
 
Legal Considerations:  The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101.  A simple majority vote is required.
