Approval of a sponsor agreement between the Board of County Commissioners and Wichita Festivals, Inc for participation in the 2012 River Festival.

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement.
The Wichita River Festival is nationally acclaimed and the largest special event in Kansas. Each year's event brings more than 300,000 festival goers to downtown Wichita to enjoy musical entertainment, kid's activities, cultural events and great food. Although research is not done each year to determine the percentage of those attending from outside Sedgwick County, estimates based on previous research, button sales and the River Run participation, approximately 15% of the total number of people who attend the River Festival each year are from outside Sedgwick County.
Financial Considerations: $10,000 - 2012 Wichita River Festival General Sponsorship.
BoCC Contingency: 77003-110 transfer to 56001-110.
Legal Considerations: K.S.A. 19-101 provides authority for this action. A simple majority vote is required. This sponsorship has been ongoing for several years. The terms and conditions of this agreement are substantially similar to prior agreements.
