Renewal Agreement with Arrowhead West. Inc. for Residential Services.

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Background: The renewal contract with Arrowhead West, Inc. provides residential services for five consumers with mental illness previously served through the developmental disability system. Services are provided in the residence of persons who are not living in the family home, and include assistance in learning and maintaining skills for daily living, such as personal grooming and cleanliness, household chores, eating and the preparation of food, and the social and adaptive skills necessary to enable the individual to reside in a non-institutional setting. The funding for residential services may not be used to purchase room and board, nor may it be used for services and supports in residences in which more than six persons are living. The contract continues the services at the same level as when they were served through the developmental disability system. The only change to the agreement this year was a small reduction ($11,202.00) in the total compensation cap, as only five individuals require these services this year.
Alternatives: This contract helps provide services for adults formerly served under the developmental disability system. Without this agreement these consumers would not receive the same level of care in the community,which could potentially impact their ability to live outside an institutional setting.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
