Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
The agreement with the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) will provide support to enhance services to victims of child abuse in Sedgwick County. The CAC utilizes a coordinated, multidisciplinary team approach to reduce stress and anxiety for child abuse victims and their families. Professionals representing prosecution, medical, therapeutic, law enforcement, social servcies and advocacy agencies work together to ensure a coordinated approach in the best interst of the child. The CAC and its partner agencies provide a variety of services including: investigations, medical evaluation, advocacy, legal services and mental health services. The current agreement is a renewal.
Alternatives: The county funding is an important component of the Child Advocacy Center's budget structure. Without the contract the CAC would have to reevaluate its budget and perhaps reduce services.
Financial Considerations: Funding for this agreement was approved through the regular 2013 budget cycle.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101 et seq. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies were followed in development and renewal of this agreement.
