This agreement is a significant revenue source for the Noxious Weeds Department and accounts for around $25,000 of non-tax revenue annually.
Legal Considerations: The BoCC is authorized to make all contracts in relation to the concerns of the county under K.S.A. 19-101 fourth. The Secretary of the Kansas Department of Transportation and the County Commission have a duty to control the spread of noxious weeds under K.S.A. 2-1314. This contract is similar in terms and conditions to prior contracts approved by the BoCC for this purpose.
