Title

AGREEMENT WITH THE CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER.

Presented by: Timothy Kaufman, Deputy Director, Sedgwick County Division of Human Services.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.

Body

Background: The agreement with the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) will provide support to enhance services to victims of child abuse in Sedgwick County. The CAC utilizes a coordinated, multidisciplinary team approach to reduce stress and trauma to child abuse victims and their families. Professionals representing prosecution, medical, therapeutic, law enforcement, social service and advocacy agencies work together to ensure a coordinated approach to serve the best interests of the child. The CAC and its partner agencies provide a variety of services including: investigation, medical evaluation, advocacy, legal, and mental health services. The current agreement is a renewal, with the only change this year being updated performance outcomes. With these new outcomes, the services provided under this contract can more effectively be measured.

Alternatives: The county funding is an important component of the Child Advocacy Center's budget structure. Without the contract the CAC would have to reevaluate its budget and potentially reduce services.

Financial Considerations: Funding for this agreement was approved through the regular 2012 budget cycle.

Cost: $120,000.00

Cost Center: 30004-202

Term: January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority is required.

Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies were followed in the development and renewal of this agreement.
