Title
Resolution for the Interfund Transfer of $15,000 from the County General Fund to the Employee Health/Life Insurance Fund.
Body
Recommended Action: Adopt the resolution.
The agenda for 12/14/2016 includes a resolution for the adoption of a donated leave program. The program will allow eligible employees to transfer or donate sick leave or vacation leave to other qualifying employees who experience an extreme, catastrophic or life-threatening injury, illness or impairment which will cause, or is likely to cause, employees to take leave without pay or termination of employment. In accordance with K.S.A. 12-16,102, the program will be administered through the Employee Health/Life Fund. Existing funds in the Employee Health/Life Fund may not be used to support the program, so some initial funding is necessary.
Alternatives: Do not approve the interfund transfer.
Financial Considerations: Under the recommended action, $15,000 in budget authority would be transferred from the Operating Reserve to the Budget Transfers fund center and would then be expended as an interfund transfer to the Employee Health/Life Fund to support the implementation of the program until adequate funding from donated leave can be acquired.
Legal Considerations: State budget law K.S.A. 12-16,111 allows for the interfund transfer of monies via resolution.
