Background: This agreement between COMCARE of Sedgwick County and Via Christi Hospitals, Inc. outlines a cooperative arrangement to ensure patients admitted to a local inpatient hospital for mental health services receive the necessary medical oversight. Via Christi is contracting with COMCARE to maintain the availability of appropriate practitioners to provide weekday call services for mental illness evaluations and treatment. Under this contract COMCARE is compensated $400.00 per weekday (Monday-Friday), including holidays, per 24-hour period.
Alternatives: This agreement helps maintain the current level of inpatient medical services for clients admitted to a local psychiatric hospital. Losing this support would negatively impact the quality and continuity of care for these high need patients.
Financial Considerations:
Revenue: $104,400.00.
Funding Source: 310729-12 Crisis Intervention Services- Inpatient.
Term: January 1, 2012- December 31, 2012.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of this agreement.
