Sedgwick County Sheriff Position Reclassifications.

Recommended Action: Approve the reclassifications as presented and authorize the Chairman to sign the necessary paperwork.
The Sheriff's Office requests the reclassification of three positions on the Department's current staffing table.
The first reclassification would take a Sheriff Deputy to a Sheriff Detective (position 20000556). The Detective position is being moved from Patrol to Investigations to focus on managing criminal cases.
The second reclassification would take a Detention Corporal to a Detention Sergeant (position 20000577). The Corporal postion will be eliminated as the Sheriff's Work Release Facility is repurposed as a jail annex. The reclassified position (Sergeant) will supervise Detention staff in the new jail annex.
The third reclassification would change pay grades of the existing unfilled Polygraph Examiner (position 20008286) from grade 128 to grade 130 based on level of work and job duties.
Alternatives: Do not authorize the reclassifications, which will impair the ability of the Sheriff's Office to execute its duties.
Financial Considerations: No additional budget authority is requested. Sufficient budget authority is included in the 2018 budget for these reclassifications.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
