Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
The addendums amend the Interlocal Service Agreement for Code Inspection and Enforcement Services entered into by Sedgwick County with Bentley, Kansas in past years. The addendums are made necessary because the Sedgwick County Department of Code Enforcement ceased to exist and became a consolidated department known as the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department, effective January 1, 2013.
The County will continue to provide as requested plan review, code inspection and enforcement services based upon the newly adopted Wichita-Sedgwick County Unified Building and Trade Code, effective January 1, 2013, and including building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical codes, under the definition of the Sedgwick County Jurisdiction, with said work to now be provided by the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department.
Financial Considerations: The terms and conditions of the existing Interlocal Service Agreement with Bentley, Kansas are acknowledged to be unchanged and shall remain in full force and effect.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 12-2901, et seq. A simple majority vote is required.
