The Zoo's Finance Committee recommends the following motion -
Motion to approve the addition of the following positions to the Zoo's County Organization Chart. 2 full-time zookeepers and eliminate 5 part-time zookeepers $55,512 in January 2015 - Elephant Manager in May 2015 $44,312 - 5 Elephant zookeepers in August 2015 $87,639, total is $187,463.
Motion - Don Knappenberger, Second - Jay Smith, motion carried by unanimous vote
These changes will be funded from the existing county salary and wages budget.
Analysis:
The 2 fulltime zookeepers and the elimination of the 5 part-time zookeepers are an outcome of the recommendations from the AZA Accreditation Inspection.
The 5 elephant zookeepers and 1 elephant manager for the elephant exhibit were expected however, due to the construction timelines staffing will be required to begin in 2015.
Financial Considerations: Changes will be made from the existing salary and wages budget. A detailed budget impact form is attached.
