Payne Township has requested the purchase of 10 acres of land from Sedgwick County, on which to locate its road maintenance equipment. This parcel borders 69th St N and is currently leased for crops as part of a 70 acre parcel. The sale of the subject parcel is configured to ensure unrestricted access to the remaining County owned land. Current revenue from the crop land is $35.00 per acre per year ($350.00/yr) and the purchase price is $24,870.00.
Alternatives: The BOCC could choose not to approve the contract.
Financial Considerations: Revenue will be deposited in the Chief Financial Officer's fund center, located in the County General Fund (70001-110).
Legal Considerations: The Board of County Commissioners is authorized by K.S.A. 19-101 third to sell and convey real property owned by the county, and can dispose of surplus real estate in conformance with County policy.
