Authority to Award Contract and Commitment of Funds to KDOT for Aviation Pathway Phase 2 (District 5).

Recommended Action: Authorize the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to award the contract, provide KDOT with a commitment to fund the local share of the project, and authorize the Chairman to sign the required forms.
The Aviation Pathway will receive Federal funds to 80.0 percent of the cost of construction through KDOT. Appropriate project agreements are in place. KDOT has taken bids and notified the County that they will award the project to Kansas Paving upon receipt of required forms that indicate the County’s agreement to move forward with the project and pay the local share.
Alternatives: Decline the federal funds.
Financial Considerations: The low bid for the project was $879,379.50. When estimates for all project costs are included, the local share is estimated to be $182,469.50. The City of Derby and Sedgwick County have an agreement in place to equally split the local cost. The cost to the County is expected to be $91,234.75.
