Title
AMEND THE 2011 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM TO INCREASE FUNDING FOR CIP PROJECT PAVE LOTS B, B1 AND C AT THE KANSAS PAVILIONS.
Presented by: Pete Giroux, Principal Analyst, Budget.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the Amendment to the CIP.
Body
Public Works has requested a CIP Amendment to increase the funding for the 2010 CIP project to Pave Lots B, B1 and C at the Kansas Pavilions. In 2010, at the request of Culture Entertainment and Recreation, the CIP was amended to include two projects at the Kansas Pavilions complex:
1. Paving lots B, B1 and C
2. Construction of a restroom and shower facility
Lots B and B1 were paved in 2010. Lot C was deferred as it was appropriate to wait and pave Lot C when the Shower and Restroom building was either complete or substantially complete so numerous details and pavement marking around the building would be correct. Design has now been completed on the Shower/Restroom building and the project is expected to go out for bid in late May. Public Works recently bid Lot C as part of R-175B Novachip Overlays for 2011. The cost for Lot C together with a ten percent contingency is $127,820.
Alternatives: The BOCC could choose not to pave Lot C
Financial Considerations: The estimated cost to pave lot C is $127,820. $13,409 remains in the original project. Requested source of funds for the remainder of $114,411 is the from the Arena Operations Reserve, Fund Center 57011-551.
Legal Considerations: A CIP process was first established in 1989 by the County Commission. The Board of County Commissioners is the final approving authority for CIP projects and amendments.
Policy Considerations: None
