Employees of Sedgwick County raised $117,838 to support United Way in 2011. Since 2001 Sedgwick County employees have pledged $1,329,985 to United Way of the Plains.
Sedgwick County Counselor’s Office and Sedgwick County Commissioner's Office are receiving the Silver Campaign Award from United Way of the Plains. The Silver Campaign Award is presented to organizations who achieve 50 to 74 percent of their potential.
Sedgwick County Manager’s Office is receiving the Pinnacle Campaign Award from United Way of the Plains. The Pinnacle Award is bestowed to organizations reaching 100% or more of their potential. An organization’s potential is equal to every employee donating one hour’s pay per month. If everyone in Sedgwick County donated one hour’s pay per month United Way of the Plains would raise $58.5 million.
Sedgwick County has provided a Loaned Executive to assist with the annual fall campaign every year the program has been in existence.
Sedgwick County and United Way of the Plains partner on a variety of projects and coalitions throughout the year including:
§ Point In Time Count.
§ Homeless Management Information System (utilized by Sedgwick County for their Shelter Plus Care and Permanent Housing).
§ Partnership with Emergency Management and 2-1-1 during disasters.
§ COMCARE allows a tax site for Earned Income Tax Credits.
§ United Way staff sits on the Veteran’s Coalition and Juvenile Justice.
Chairman Tim Norton, Board of Sedgwick County Commissioners, serves on United Way’s Board of Directors.
