ADOPTION OF THE 2013 SAFETY SLOGAN FOR SEDGWICK COUNTY EMPLOYEES: "MAKE SAFETY ROUTINE IN 2013."

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt the safety slogan and allow presentation of a framed poster and other safety related items to Nathan Powers, Sedgwick County Department of Corrections - Juvenile Field Services, winner of the 2013 Safety Slogan Contest.

As part of a continual effort to promote safety awareness since 1994, the Board of County Commissioners has supported adoption of an annual safety slogan for Sedgwick County employees. Nathan Powers, Sedgwick County Department of Corrections - Juvenile Field Services, submitted this year's winning slogan, "Make Safety Routine in 2013." Each year employees are asked to participate in the safety slogan contest by submitting slogans. Selection of the safety slogan is made by a committee which votes on the employee submissions.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq. A simple majority vote is required. Adoption of this slogan has no foreseeable legal ramifications
