Agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation for Federal-Aid Construction Engineering Inspection Services by the County for a County Administered Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge Project on Meridian over the Wichita-Valley Center Floodway (CIP Project Number B-462A) (District 2).

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.

 

Background: Sedgwick County has received a federal grant for construction of this project. The grant requires that construction engineering be provided for the project.  Sedgwick County Public Works is certified by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to provide these services. The County is eligible for 80% reimbursement for the cost of providing the services.

 

Alternatives: Decline and withdraw from the project.

 

Financial Considerations:  $158,535.21 Cost Center: 21532-231 GL Acct: 33330

Sufficient budget authority exists in cost center 21532-231 for this agreement, no additional budget authority is being requested.

 

The County is eligible for reimbursement of 80% of the cost of construction engineering services.

 

Legal Considerations: The Board of County Commissioners is authorized to make all contracts in relation to the property and concerns of the county under K.S.A. 19-101 fourth. Also, pursuant to the County's grant policies and procedures, this grant requires approval from the Board of County Commissioners. Approval is by simple majority vote.
