Title
Amendment to the 2013 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to include expanding the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) to Twelve Beds.
Body
Recommended Action: Approve the Amendment to the 2013 CIP.
Background: In order to expand the capacity of the existing Crisis Stabilization unit (CSU) from the current four to the requested twelve beds, COMCARE is required to meet certain fire/building safety and licensing requirements, as individuals stay in this setting overnight. The scope of work for this project entails architectural review and design, the addition of a sprinkler system, modifications to turn a restroom into a shower room and the addition of visual and audible alerts and fire pull stations to the existing fire system.
COMCARE has submitted a CIP Amendment Request for the work detailed above. Facility Project Services estimates the cost of the expansion at $72,823. The CIP Committee has reviewed the request and recommends approval.
Alternatives: The request could be denied and CSU capacity would remain at the current four beds.
Financial Considerations: The cost of the project is estimated at $72,823 Proposed source of funds is a transfer of the remaining funds ($67,327) in the completed Heartland Preparedness Center Infrastructure project (Fund Center 13984-234), the remaining unencumbered funds ($1,222) in the Outdoor Warning and Reportback system (Fund Center 13987-234) and a portion of the unencumbered funds ($4,274) in the completed design phase of the Sheriff's Squad Room (Fund Center 17982-234). Final payments are pending in that project.
