The digital 9-1-1 radio system hinges on the proper siting of the ten (10) radio towers. The specific location is necessary to complete the coverage network for optimal radio communications between 9-1-1 dispatchers and first responders in the field.
Alternatives: Deny the request. A denial will result in the halting of the digital radio system project.
Financial Considerations: A onetime $500 startup cost (due at execution of contract), $2541.00 per month ($30,492 first year) total first year $30,992. This lease calls for a 3% escalation per year during the lifetime of the lease. Funding to cover the costs of the lease will come from 9-1-1 tax revenues.
Legal Considerations: The terms and provisions of tower leases have been negotiated between counsel and incorporate FCC Rules and Regulations, including priority and Public Safety Interference Regulation and Proceedings. Approval is by simple majority vote.
