LAND PURCHASE FOR EMS POST 9.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the contract, authorize the Chairman to sign, and authorize the EMS Director signatory authority on the Joint Access Agreement.

EMS Post 9 is currently located in Fire Station 38 at 1010 N. 143rd St. E. This purchase will allow for construction of a new post near the intersection of Lincoln and Webb, as approved in the 2011 CIP. This location has been evaluated for response time and access routes and has been found to be ideal. Three locations were considered for the location of this post. The cost of the land is $3.00/SF, which is comparable for undeveloped property in the area. The land required is 30,000 SF for a total cost of $90,000.00. This amount is within the land budget for the project. This land purchase requires the purchaser to enter into a Joint Access Agreement with the adjacent landowners for the purpose of establishing appropriate maintenance for a joint roadway easement.
Alternatives: The BOCC could choose not to approve the contract, in which case another method for purchasing the land would need to be found.
Financial Considerations: 12990-402 - $90,000.00
Legal Considerations: The County is authorized by K.S.A. 19-101 second to purchase and hold real and personal property for the use of the County.
