AGREEMENTS WITH RURAL COMMUNITY GROUPS FOR DELIVERY OF USDA COMMODITIES.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the agreements and authorize the Chairman to sign.

These contracts allow for the distribution of USDA-donated commodities to the rural areas of Sedgwick County. This program is available to anyone who meets income guidelines. It has been successful in helping low income persons in rural areas meet their nutritional needs. Community agencies are available within the City of Wichita, and a few organizations are available outside the city limits to coordinate distribution of commodities. Our responsibility is to coordinate volunteer pickup of the commodities reports and compile and submit monthly reports to SRS.

Financial Considerations: No additional funds are requested. Mileage is granted for the volunteers and is reimbursed from SRS.
