Renewal of Professional Services Agreement for Child Psychiatry Services.

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Background: COMCARE has contracted with Dr. Deborah Bergen for child psychiatry services since 2009. Dr. Bergen is a licensed adolescent/child psychiatrist who has agreed to provide professional psychiatry services for COMCARE's Children’s Services program sixteen hours per week at the rate of $145 per hour. There were no changes to the agreement this year.
Alternatives: Adolescent/child psychiatrists are in short supply. COMCARE purchases additional adolescent/child psychiatry services from contractors in order to meet the needs of clients served through our Children’s Services program. The services provided by contractors, like Dr. Bergen, supplement the work of our medical provider employees and provide needed access to important medical services for our clients. Without the additional hours, children needing medical services would be forced to wait to see a psychiatrist.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
