Financial Considerations: A rental subsidy is paid directly by the HA to the landlord on behalf of the participating family. The family then pays the difference between the actual rent charged by the landlord and the amount subsidized by the program. The below rent subsidy amounts are determined at the current tenants annual recertification. All tenants go through an annual recertification process to determine if they are still income eligible for the program. The rent amounts do not come out of Sedgwick County funding.

Legal Considerations: Section 8 housing was created by the United States Housing Act of 1937 and has been amended numerous times with the current authorization found in Title 24, Part 982.1. Approval is by simple majority vote.
