Title

Seventeen (17) 2018 Aging mill levy contracts/agreements for Senior Centers.

Body

Recommended Action:  Approve the contracts / agreements and authorize the Chairman to sign.

This contract / agreement is for the period beginning January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.  These 17 contracts are for senior centers which include:  Senior Clubs, Senior Center Level I, Senior Center Level II, Multi-Purpose Senior Center Level I, Multi-Purpose Senior Center Level II, and Multi-Purpose Senior Center III. Senior Centers provide a variety of services, education and social activities for adults age 55 and older.  Each Senior Center is required to provide certain types of programming based on the level of Senior Center.  The programming requirements fall into three categories:

• SPECIAL EVENTS/PROJECTS:  These activities are events that are not scheduled on a regular basis.  Examples of special events/projects include:  community charities, fundraising, inter-generational programs, dinner events, programs, and musical events.

• EDUCATION:  These activities are designed to provide the older adult with information to improve their life, their health and/or change their behavior.  Examples of educational events include:  community education, educational presentations, health presentations/workshops, advocacy, retirement planning, volunteer service opportunities, educational tours, and cultural enrichment activities.

In 2004, a new funding formula for senior centers was developed and approved, implementation was initiated in 2005.  This included new reporting requirements in three categories and funding levels for centers.  The following are the current classifications and requirements:
