Body

Background: The City of Wichita through funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development  (HUD) implemented a Resident Service Coordinator Program. This program is funded under the Wichita Housing Authority (WHA), Public Housing Program.  The SCDOA will provide a qualified employee to provide service coordination at Greenway Manor and McLean Manor on a regular schedule for a total of 20 hours weekly beginning October 1, 2010 and continuing through 2013. 

 

The Resident Services Coordinator provided by SCDOA will help residents identify services needed to remain independent and/or age in place, and will coordinate the delivery of those services as requested in the two public housing facilities listed above.  Services include, but are not limited to, the coordination or delivery of the following:

                      transportation coordination for tenants,

                      attendant and homemaker services,

health and wellness services, 

legal and financial services,

assistance to elderly and disabled persons in filling out forms and documents,

medical, in-home therapy and prescription drug services,

assistance with tenant organization grant applications,

counseling,

crisis control,

building community by supporting tenant associations, and

promotion of recreational, educational or social service activities and gatherings.

 

Sedgwick County Department on Aging has provided Resident Service Coordination for WHA since 2002. 

 

 

Alternatives:  The County Commission could decide not to approve the agreement

 

Financial Considerations:  This agreement is for a total of $24,700
