RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the Agreements and Authorize the Chairman to Sign.
Body
These agreements serve to subcontract the provision of Intellectual and Developmental Disability (ID/DD) services in Sedgwick County to organizations and individuals that have met SRS and CDDO standards. As the CDDO contracting with SRS for Sedgwick County, these agreements assure that services are provided for eligible individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. One change from the previous year’s agreement is a new emphasis in service expectations to increase the number of people seeking and obtaining competitive employment.
The agreements for the following contractors provide both the ability to bill the Medicaid system directly and to receive payment from Sedgwick County for services that are provided to eligible individuals through August 31, 2011:
Alternatives: The SCDDO is required to contract with qualified service providers that have been selected by an individual who is eligible to receive intellectual and developmental disability services. All listed providers have been selected as the preferred provider for at least one individual.
Financial Considerations: All listed providers may receive payments directly from Sedgwick County and/or bill Medicaid directly for services provided. Because the ID/DD service system works on a reimbursement basis, funding will not be paid to providers until after the service has been provided and verified.
Participants in the County Finance Plan receive funding for additional services provided. Seven agencies (The Arc of Sedgwick County, Arrowhead West, House of Hope, KETCH, Rainbows United, ResCare Life Choices and Starkey, Inc.) participate in the plan. The key component to the County Finance Plan is these providers waive the State requirement of having up to 60 days to begin serving an individual in order to meet an individual’s needs in crisis situations.
