Recommended Action: Approve this agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Background: This professional service agreement provides coverage for COMCARE consumers receiving inpatient treatment at local hospitals. Dr. Shah, MD, is a local psychiatrist who provides inpatient psychiatric services to COMCARE consumers hospitalized at Via Christi St. Joseph and Via Christi St. Francis. Dr. Shah provides approximately 60 hours of service per month, and has contracted with COMCARE since 2007 to provide these services.
Alternatives: It is a generally accepted practice for COMCARE to ensure that inpatient psychiatric physician services are available to COMCARE patients presenting at local hospitals. Without this agreement, COMCARE would be required to identify another method to ensure patients receive these services.

Cost: $65,000.00
Funding Source: 310729-17 Crisis Inpatient Services
Term: 1/1/17 to 12/31/17
Budget authority Adjustment: Sufficient budget authority is included in the 2017 budget, no additional budget authority is being requested.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101 and a simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of these renewal agreements.
