Title

Revise Sedgwick County Personnel Policies.

Body

Recommended Action: Approve the recommendation to revise the Sedgwick County Personnel Policies and approve a new fund center to be established.

Background: Establish a donated leave program which would allow employees to transfer or donate sick leave or vacation leave to other qualifying employees who experience an extreme, catastrophic, or life-threatening injury, illness, or impairment which will cause, or is likely to cause, employees to take leave without pay or termination of employment.

Alternatives: Not approve the policies.

Financial Considerations: A new fund center will be established in the Health/Life Insurance Employee Benefits Fund (Benefits Fund) within the Benefits Division of the Human Resources Department. An interfund transfer of $15,000 is being requested concurrently to provide initial funding for the program.  For 2017, existing budget authority within the Benefits Fund will be used; if additional budget authority is necessary, a budget amendment item will be brought for consideration to the Commission.
