Title
A RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION 184-10 WHICH SET FEES FOR MANAGING INMATE MONEY ACCOUNTS

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the resolution and authorize the Chairman to sign.

Body
Resolution 184-10 was enacted in 2010 to allow for assessment of fees by a specific vendor (Tech Friends) for managing inmate money accounts.  A different vendor (Swanson) will take over on December 16, 2014 and a different fee schedule will be implemented; therefore, the fees set by resolution 184-10 will no longer be applicable.  Fees charged by the new vendor will be set by contract.   Sedgwick County will not retain any of the fees charged by the new vendor.

Alternatives: The Board of County Commissioners could not approve the resolution.

Financial Considerations: The vendor handles all deposits, payments, and reconciliation. This item is budget neutral; no funds will be received or paid directly by the County related to this contract.

Legal Considerations:  Rescinding resolution 184-10 will allow fees to be set by contract.  The county has authority to make contracts as provided in K.S.A. 19-101.
