Title
FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER OF SEDGWICK COUNTY.
Presented by: William P. Buchanan, County Manager.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign, and authorize budget transfer from operating reserve to community programs.

Body
The Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County (CAC) provides services to abused and neglected children in Sedgwick County by pulling law enforcement, medical, therapeutic, social services and child advocacy agencies together and housing a multidisciplinary team under one roof. The collaboration between CAC and its partner agencies is designed to serve the child's best interest.  The proposed Child Advocacy Center facility to be constructed through funds raised by CAC's capital campaign will be developmentally and culturally sensitive to each child's needs. The Behind Closed Doors campaign for the CAC facility has secured over $4 million of the needed $6.5 million to renovate the new facility. The CAC has made a formal request for $1 million from Sedgwick County.

Alternatives: The Board of County Commissioners can approve an alternate amount of funding or reject any funding agreement for the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County.

Financial Considerations: Funding will be provided by a transfer of budget authority from operating reserve to the Community Programs fund center of the General Fund.  Taking into account this expenditure, Finance Division projects the General Fund will end the year with revenue approximately $600,000 more than expenditures.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq.  A simple majority vote is required.

Policy Considerations:
