Title
Addition of a new position to the Department on Aging Staffing Table.

Body
Recommended Action: Approve the changes to the staffing table as requested.
An increase in number of pre-nursing home placement assessments (CARE assessment) and the initiation of the Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) program has created a need for additional administrative support staff. Therefore, the department is requesting to create a position for a 1.0 FTE Fiscal Associate position eligible for benefits. This is one of two positions that was included in the 2015 Sedgwick County Department on Aging budget that was approved on August 13th. Due to the continual increase in work load the department is requesting to fill the position at this time to ensure timely completion of required tasks.

The position will be paid from the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) funds. No additional budget authority is requested.

Alternatives: The alternative is to not create a new position at this time. Not filling the position will negatively impact individuals in the community because of delayed processing of assessments required for approval and annual renewal of services by the State, and delayed approval for diabetes education services and Medicare billing. The delay in data entry for the CARE assessments could result in failure to be in compliance with the Aging and Disability Resource Service contract and reduction in reimbursement for services provided.

Financial Considerations: Funding for personnel costs associated with the position was included in the 2015 adopted budget. The annualized salary and benefit estimation of this position is below. The position would be grade 118 on the compensation plan. No additional budget authority has been requested at this time.

2014: Salary $5,610 Benefits $4,558 Total: $10,168
2015: Salary $26,520 Benefits $12,000 Total: $38,520
Cost Center: 34021-254

Legal Considerations: N/A
