Title
2015 City of Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Planning Department Interlocal Agreement.

Body
Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.

The resolution formalizes for the 2015 fiscal year the agreement between the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County to jointly fund and manage the Metropolitan Area Planning Department (MAPD).  Currently housed in City Hall, the City of Wichita provides administrative support services for MAPD. The City-County interlocal agreement funds a portion of MAPD's operating budget with additional funding garnered from federal and state grants and program revenue.

The City of Wichita approved this agreement on August 12, 2014.

Alternatives: The Board of County Commissioners may elect to revise or reject the agreement.

Financial Considerations: If the BOCC approves the agreement, Sedgwick County will provide $740,341 to the City of Wichita to fund MAPD in 2015, and the City of Wichita will provide the same amount of funding. The County's 2015 adopted budget authorizes expenditure authority of $740,341 to fund the County's portion of the agreement. At the end of the year, any remaining unencumbered funds are returned to each party on an equal basis.

Legal Considerations:  The authority for this action is K.S.A. 12-716, et seq. A simple majority vote is required.

Policy Considerations: None.
