MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN SEDGWICK COUNTY, KANSAS AND THE 22ND AIR REFUELING WING, MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE FOR THE HOUSING OF PRISONERS IN THE SEDGWICK COUNTY ADULT DETENTION FACILITY.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office and the 22nd Refueling Wing, McConnell Air Force Base will allow the Sheriff to house prisoners from McConnell Air Force Base. The MOA is attached.
Alternatives:
Financial Considerations: The RECEIVER (MAFB) will pay within 30 days, a per diem rate of $67.78 to house inmates within the facility.
Legal Considerations: Per 2013 Supp. K.S.A. 19-1930, the Sheriff is required to receive all prisoners committed to the sheriff’s custody by authority of the United States and to keep them safely in the same manner as prisoners of the county until discharged in accordance with law. K.S.A. 19-101 allows counties to make contracts and do all other acts in relation to county property. A simple majority vote is required. The terms and conditions of this Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) are substantially similar to prior agreements. The MOA has been reviewed and approved by the County Counselor’s Office.
