Establish additional 2014 budget authority in the Prosecuting Attorney Trust Fund, 18014-259.
The Prosecuting Attorney Trust Fund is established by law under the Kansas Standard Asset Seizure and Forfeiture Act, K.S.A. 60-4101, et seq. A portion of this act expressly provides law enforcement and prosecutors with a portion of the funds derived as a result of property seized and forfeited via this act and may be used for legitimate law enforcement and prosecutorial purposes, including training, equipment and educational purposes.
Sufficient budget authority was not established for this fund (18014-259) during the normal 2014 budget processes. The District Attorney's Office is requesting additional budget authority to meet current and pending expenditure needs anticipated throughout the remainder of the year.
