Renewal Agreement with Arrowhead West Inc. for Residential Services.

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Background: This renewal contract with Arrowhead West Inc. provides residential services for five consumers with mental illness previously served through the developmental disability system. Services are provided in the residence of the persons who are not living in the family home, and include assistance with learning and maintaining skills for daily living, such as:
-personal grooming and cleanliness;
-household chores
-preparing and eating food; and
-the social and adaptive skills necessary to enable the individual to reside in a non-institutional setting
This funding may not be used to purchase room and board, nor may it be used for services in facilities where more than five persons are living. The contract continues services at the same level as when they were served through the developmental disability system. There were no changes to the contract this year.
Alternatives: This contract helps provide services for adults formerly served under the developmental disability system. Without this agreement these consumers would not receive the same level of care in the community, which could potentially impact their ability to live outside an institutional setting.
Financial Considerations:
Cost: $30.69 per day up to $56,010.00
Funding Source: 310246-15
Term: 07/1/14 - 6/30/15
Budget Authority Adjustment: Sufficient budget authority is included in the 2014 budget, no additional budget authority is being requested.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A.39-1801,et. seq. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of this renewal agreement.
