Recommended Action: Approve the hire.
Background: The Chief Deputy position will be filled by a candidate with a great deal of experience in Sedgwick County government. The recommended salary is commensurate with the candidate's level of experience and knowledge.
Alternatives: None
Financial Considerations: 50% of the salary is paid from Treasurer's Tax budget (76003-110) and 50% from the Treasurer's Tag budget (76005-213). The budget impact for 6/16/14-12/31/14 is $50,278 and for 1/1/15 - 12/31/15 the budget impact will be $96,832. (Budget Impact is attached.) The current Chief Deputy is compensated at a substantially higher amount and this will result in salary savings.

Policy Considerations: Policy 4.3000 states: Departments shall not exceed the established number of budgeted positions without proper authorization, including budgeted positions for part time and temporary positions, or for short term needs to double-fill a position. The BoCC will make the final determination on all staffing table changes.
