RESOLUTION REQUIRING CITY OF SEDGWICK ANNEX PART OF RIDGE RD.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt the resolution and authorize the chairman to sign.

Under K.S.A. 2013 Supp. 12-520(f), the commission may notify a city of any highway that is not part of the city, but that has a common boundary with the city. A portion of Ridge Rd. south of East Industrial Drive shares a common boundary with the city but has not been annexed by the city. The notice must be accompanied by a map and a legal description of the highway. Upon receipt of the notice, the city must by ordinance certify the facts stated by the county are correct, and then declare the highway is annexed to the city upon publication of the ordinance. This matter has been discussed with the city, and they are willing to proceed with the annexation after receiving the notice from the commission.
Alternatives: A) Approve the resolution and authorize the chairman to sign;
B) Do not approve the resolution;
C) Take any other action deemed appropriate
