RECOMMENDED ACTION: Authorize the Department of Corrections to transfer ownership of 8 horses to approved placements.
Body
With the closure of Judge Riddel Boys Ranch (JRBR) eight horses will need to be transferred to approved placements. In June, JRBR staff will interview potential candidates and inspect placement areas for appropriate care. We propose transferring the following with each horse: blanket, pad, feeder, saddle, breast collar, cinch, bridle, grooming supplies and medication. The goal is to have all horses moved to their new locations by July 15, 2015.

Financial Considerations: No direct costs to the County.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-211(b) and the County's Disposition of Surplus Property policy. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: This plan has been reviewed by the Director of Accounting and follows the County's Disposition of Surplus Property policy.
