Recommended Action: Approve the amendment and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Sedgwick County Corrections Pre-Trial Program services, Corrections Drug Court, and Sheriff's Department Offender Registration Unit have leased approximately 13,700 square feet at 3803 E. Harry St. under one lease since 2009. This is a two year lease amendment with an effective date of June 15, 2014. Monthly lease cost will remain the same under this amendment with an annual rate of $138,370 ($10.10 SF).
The lease has the option of automatic renewals extending the term for succesive one-year agreements beginning June 15, 2016 with the same terms and conditions.
Alternatives: The BoCC could choose not to approve the lease amendment, in which case Corrections Pre-Trial and Drug Court programs and the Sheriff's Department Offender Registration Unit would need to relocate staff from this location.
Financial Considerations: The lease rate remains the same.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq. A simple majority vote is required.
