Title
Request for Approval of a Form 1302 for submittal to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to Request Federal Funding to Construct an Off-System Bridge on 95th St. South between 151st St. West and 167th St. West. B-476. District 2.
Body
Recommended Action: Approve the Form 1302 and authorize the Chairman to sign.
KDOT has issued a statewide call for projects requesting applications for construction of bridges that are eligible for Off-System federal highway funds. This call for projects is for the use of FFY 2016 funds. Public Works has identified this bridge as eligible for the funds, needing to be replaced and a good candidate for selection by KDOT. A consulting engineer has been selected to design the project and design contracts will be be awarded from 2014 funds in CIP Project B-464 which was created specifically to provide funding for design of off-system bridges as needed. The cost of design, right of way acquisition and any needed utility relocations would be paid by Sedgwick County. The cost of construction and construction inspection would be split between Sedgwick County and KDOT. Sedgwick County would pay 20 percent and KDOT would pay 80 percent with Federal funds. Project inspection and construction are expected to cost $605,000. The County share would be $121,000 and the Federal funding would provide $484,000.
If the project is selected by KDOT, it would need to be added to the WAMPO Metropolitan Transportation Plan, the WAMPO Transportation Improvement Plan and the Sedgwick County Capital Improvement Program. A formal project agreement would then be executed by Sedgwick County and KDOT.
Alternatives: Take no action and pass on a potential funding opportunity.
Financial Considerations: If the project is selected by KDOT, a CIP amendment would be needed to establish funding for the local share of the project costs.
Legal Considerations: The BoCC is authorized to make all contracts in relation to the property an...
