Recommended Action: Approve the amendment and authorize the Chairman to sign.
The Sedgwick County Treasurer's Office has leased 3,600 square feet of space at 2330 N. Maize Road since 1999. This location provides a tag office substation for Sedgwick County. This is a three year lease amendment with an effective date of June 1, 2014. Monthly lease cost is reduced to $3,075 per month plus pro-rata share of actual taxes, insurance, and common area maintenance.
The lease has the option of extending the term for two additional one year terms with an increase to $3,225 ($10.75 SF) per month during those options.
Alternatives: The BoCC could choose not to approve the lease amendment, in which case the Treasurer's Office would need to relocate staff at this location.
Financial Considerations: The lease rate is being reduced by .52 cents per square foot bringing the monthly rate from $3,230 ($10.77 SF) to $3,075 ($10.25 SF). The lease payments are funded with revenues of the Auto License Fund.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq. A simple majority vote is required.
